Meng Meiqi responds to the controversy over the casting of Bi Yao in "Zhu Xian": There are deficiencies that will be improved

The movie "Zhu Xian" directed by Cheng Xiaodong and starring Xiao Zhan, Li Qin, Meng Meiqi and Tang Yixin was released nationwide today (September 13) during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Recently, Sina Entertainment interviewed Meng Meiqi, a member of Rocket Girls 101 who plays Biyao in the movie.

Before the release of "Zhu Xian", Sina Entertainment had a chat with one of the leading actors Meng Meiqi. She talked about her understanding of the role of Biyao and some shooting highlights, and also responded to online doubts about the casting of Biyao. Meng Meiqi said that it was normal to have doubts because she was making new attempts and challenges, and any shortcomings would be improved later.

In the interview, Meng Meiqi recalled that the line that impressed her the most during the filming was calling Xiao Zhan "fool" - "I was a little shy to say it at first." She admitted that it was very stressful to challenge a classic role for the first time - "Controversy is inevitable." She also said that she was not sure whether she had acting talent - "I don't really know whether I am talented or not."

Sina Entertainment: Why did you choose "Zhu Xian I" as your first costume film? What do you think was the biggest gain after filming?

Meng Meiqi: Because I have always wanted to play this kind of cool chivalrous female role, and this opportunity happened to allow me to meet this movie. I gained a lot, because it was my first time trying a costume drama, and also my first time trying a martial arts drama. The director and actors on the scene also gave me a lot of acting experience.

Sina Entertainment: This is your first time challenging a classic "big IP" like "Zhu Xian". When you took on this role, did you think there would be some controversy?

Meng Meiqi: I think controversy is inevitable, because this is my first time trying a costume movie, and I still have a lot of room for improvement and room to learn.

Sina Entertainment: Have you seen any comments online recently? What do you want to say to everyone after seeing these discussions?

Meng Meiqi: Yes. First of all, I think it is normal to have some comments and doubts about me. But I am also making a new attempt and challenge, so I hope everyone can watch this movie with me. I still have many shortcomings that need to be improved and progressed.
