Netflix's subscriber base surges to 270 million, exceeding company expectations

In the field of streaming platforms, the "old brand" Netflix is still far ahead. But the company itself did not predict that its number of subscribers would reach 270 million in this fiscal quarter.

Netflix recently released its first quarter report for 2024 through Variety magazine, which showed that as of March 31, the platform's subscribers increased by 9.33 million to 269 million, far higher than the company's forecast of an increase of 3.93 million subscribers in the same period. This may be related to the platform's crackdown on shared password accounts.

On the other hand, Netflix's early 2024 lineup also has some popular works, including "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series, "The Three-Body Problem", "The Gentlemen", etc.

Additionally, the company revealed plans to stop reporting quarterly subscribers starting in 2025. This could be because the recent decline in subscribers has contributed to the company’s stock price decline. Hiding this data means the platform may believe that subscribers will decline again at some point in the future.
