Considering the extensive real-life stunts used in Mad Max: Fury Road, it's clear that filming the upcoming prequel, Fury, wasn't an easy task either. Recently the film's filmmaker, Doug Mitchell, revealed that one 15-minute sequence took 78 days to shoot. Mitchell told Total Film that “nearly 200 stuntmen” were on set every day during the shoot, while Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays the younger version of Furiosa, said: “[Director] George Miller and I had a lot of discussions about why this particular sequence was so long.” Taylor-Joy doesn’t even have a driver’s license, despite having learned to do a J-turn on her first day of stunt school. “This [sequence] was designed so that you can see the accumulation of techniques during the fight, which was important to understand Furiosa’s resourcefulness and courage,” she said. “It was the longest sequence we ever shot. The day we finished, everyone got a bottle of Stairway to Nowhere wine!” Mad Max: Fury of the Gods will be released in theaters on May 24. |
