To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the premiere of "The Shawshank Redemption", some theaters in the United States will re-screen the film on September 22, 24 and 25 this year.

According to foreign media EW, although "The Shawshank Redemption" is now a recognized classic and is ranked first on the "Most Popular Movies of All Time" list voted by movie fans on IMDB, in fact, the box office of this movie was just over 16 million US dollars when it was first released in 1994, which was very poor.

"The Shawshank Redemption" was directed by Frank Darabont and adapted from Stephen King's novel. The film received seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor, but unfortunately ran into "Forrest Gump" and ultimately failed to win any.

Movie Synopsis:

In the late 1940s, Andy (Tim Robbins), a young and successful banker, was jailed for allegedly killing his wife and her lover. In this prison called Shawshank, hope seems illusory, and the punishment of life imprisonment undoubtedly dooms Andy to a dark and desperate life.

Before long, Andy tries to get close to Red (Morgan Freeman), a prestigious prisoner, and asks him to get a hammer for him. Taking this as an opportunity, the two gradually get to know each other, and Andy seems to have found his own way to survive in the prison where good and bad people are mixed, crimes are rampant, and black and white are mixed.

He used his professional knowledge to help the prison management evade taxes and launder money. At the same time, he gradually gained courtesy among the prisoners through his relationship with Red. On the surface, he had changed from hating the high wall to being indifferent to it, just like Red, but his desire for freedom still pushed him to move towards his hope and goal. And the truth about his crime seemed to push everything forward a step further...
