Disney's live-action version of "The Lion King" was first released in mainland China on Friday, earning 95.52 million yuan on the first day, successfully taking the top spot. Together with the 3.62 million yuan from the midnight show, the cumulative box office of the film is 99.14 million yuan, which exceeds "The Jungle Book" and "Beauty and the Beast", setting a record for the highest first-day box office of Disney's live-action/animal movies in mainland China.

However, whether the film can finally exceed 1 billion in the mainland box office remains to be seen. Currently, the film has a score of 7.6 on Time.com and 7.5 on Douban. Although it is generally higher than the 56 points on external websites such as Rotten Tomatoes, the performance is still not amazing enough.

Among other new releases, the action film "The Amateur Agent" starring Wang Dalu, Zhang Rongrong and Milla Jovovich earned 12.94 million on the first day, ranking fourth. The film's score on Mtime.com was only 4.6.

The two Japanese animations "Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II: Lost Butterfly" and "Mobile Suit Gundam NT" earned 11.1325 million and 3.696 million respectively, ranking fifth and sixth.

As for old films, "Drug War 2: Drug Lords" is still strong, taking in 59.79 million yuan on Friday, ranking second. The film's cumulative box office has reached 781 million yuan.

The superhero movie "Spider-Man: Far From Home" also earned 14.63 million yuan on Friday, ranking third. The film's cumulative box office is 1.27 billion yuan.
