Total box office in April 2024 exceeds 1 billion! Hayao Miyazaki wins the Oscar for Best Animation

According to Maoyan Professional Edition data, as of 12:01 today, the total box office in April 2024 has exceeded 1 billion.

"How Do You Want to Live?", "Godzilla vs. Kong: Rise of an Empire" and "Grass and Trees" ranked the top three in the April box office chart.

Among them, the box office of "How Do You Want to Live" exceeded 97.24 million yuan on the first day of its release, setting the highest box office record for the premiere day of a film during the Qingming Festival in Chinese film history.

This film is Miyazaki's second Oscar-winning Best Animated Feature Film after "Spirited Away" and is regarded as Miyazaki's "life movie and farewell work."

The plot is told from the perspective of the young boy Mu Zhenren. It tells the story of how after his mother passed away, he formed a new family with his father and stepmother. He was deeply saddened and lonely, and found it difficult to integrate into the new environment.

By accident, he followed a talking heron into an abandoned mysterious tower, but unexpectedly entered the fantasy "world of the dead", starting an incredible adventure.

The second one, "Godzilla vs. Kong: Rise of an Empire", is also a recent hit. It is the fifth movie in the Monster Universe, with five popular monsters gathered together. Godzilla joins forces with Kong and Mothra to fight Scar King and the Snow Demon, and there are very few human plots, making it a rare and exciting movie.
