Bethesda has previously rejected several proposals for film and television adaptations of "Fallout"

The live-action TV adaptation of "Fallout" is about to be broadcast. Bethesda boss Todd Howard said that before producer Jonathan Nolan, Bethesda had rejected proposals for "Fallout" adaptations many times. In the latest feature film, Todd discussed why the early proposals did not take shape and why Jonathan Nolan won his support.

"Ever since we made Fallout 3, a lot of people have wanted to make a Fallout TV show," Todd said. "I went to a lot of meetings and had a lot of conversations. I always said, 'Well, that's not a good fit for me.'"

However, when Todd met Jonathan Nolan, they hit it off. Jonathan said: "Todd and I have been fans of each other's work for many years."

As the brother and partner of the famous director Christopher Nolan, Jonathan is not only the author of the original novel of Christopher Nolan's famous work "Memento", but also collaborated with his brother on the screenwriting of the famous Batman "The Dark Knight" trilogy. He himself has many excellent works in the field of TV dramas, including "Person of Interest" and "Westworld".

Todd said that he and Jonathan hit it off very well from the first phone call, and Nolan's knowledge and admiration for the game left a particularly deep impression on Todd. He said: "It's obvious that he has not only played these games and loves them, but also has a clear vision for what's on the screen. We are very, very patient. Once we found this, we were sure that this was the right way to bring Fallout to the screen."

Previously, the TV series producer said that the Fallout TV series is basically Fallout 5. Todd also agreed with this and said that the TV series should be regarded as the "next story" of the series. As a game, Fallout 5 is still in production and should be a long way from launch.

As early as 2015, Pete Hines, the former marketing director of Bethesda who left last year, said in an interview with GameStop that the company was advised to be very cautious when adapting its IP into film and television works, because improper adaptation could have a huge negative impact.

The live-action Fallout TV series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 11. All eight episodes will be released at once.
