"Falcon" talks about taking over "Captain America": I cried during the filming

At the end of Avengers 4, the aged Steve Rogers handed over his shield to Sam Wilson, the Falcon. Recently, Anthony Mackie, who plays the Falcon, spoke for the first time about how he felt when Chris Evans told him that he would take over as Captain America.

Mackay said: "We were at his (Chris Evans) house and he said, 'Are you excited?' I was like, 'What are you talking about?' And he jumped up and ran out of the room and came back with the script. He said, 'Read it!' I saw the scene and was like, 'Wow!' And he said, 'Yes!' We cried, drank, laughed. It just happened. I was so happy that I was with Chris at the time, just for him, instead of taking up the shield, because he was the one who told me what was going on in the script."

McKay also talked about the significance of taking over Captain America. "For my son, it means a lot to see a black man take over Captain America... So, I'm grateful, not just because of that moment, 'Hey, we're acting,' but more importantly, when the call was cut, I cried, Chris cried, Russell cried. Everyone cried, it was a touching day."

As one of the six original superhero characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America, played by Chris Evans, officially bid farewell in "Avengers 4" and handed over the shield to his former comrade Falcon.
