The comic book movie "Morbius the Vampire" after "Venom" is scheduled to be released in 2020

Venom performed well at the box office, and Sony began to work harder to develop other derivative characters in the Spider-Man universe. Recently, Sony announced that Morbius the Vampire will be officially released in North America on July 31, 2020.

In the comics, Michael Morbius was originally a Nobel Prize-winning biologist who experimented on himself to treat a rare blood disease, but the experiment failed and he developed hemophilia. Morbius grew fangs and needed blood to survive. His bite could be fatal, but the victim would not become a vampire. He also has some other characteristics of a vampire, such as aversion to light, the ability to fly, great strength, speed, and self-healing ability.

It is reported that Jared Leto, who played the Joker in "Suicide Squad", will play the role of Morbius. "Pacific Rim 2" actress Adria Arjona will play Morbius' fiancée Martina Bancroft. Actors Matt Smith and will also join the film and play important roles.

The film will be directed by Daniel Espinosa, the director of "Alien Awakens" and "Hidden Place", and the script will be written by Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless, two screenwriters of "Lost in Space".
