Disney is about to acquire Fox, "Avatar" producer: It will not be affected

Disney's acquisition of Fox is nearing completion, and is expected to be completed as early as March this year. For movie fans, Disney's acquisition of Fox will mean the transfer of a large number of movie IPs.

The first is the "X-Men" movie series. Previously, the adaptation rights of the movies belonged to Fox. With this acquisition, "X-Men", "Fantastic Four" and others will return to Marvel, which also makes fans very much looking forward to it.

In addition to Marvel's superheroes, there is another big IP that is also going to change owners, that is the classic science fiction movie series "Avatar" directed by Cameron.

"Avatar" was previously owned by Fox. The first film was a global hit, with a box office of 2.788 billion US dollars, ranking first in film history. Currently, there are four more films in the planning of "Avatar", and "Avatar 2" is also confirmed to be released in North America in December 2020.

After Disney acquired Fox, Avatar was forced to change owners, but James Cameron had previously expressed his willingness to cooperate because Disney did spend a lot more money on "Avatar" than Fox.

In addition, Jon Landau, the producer of the "Avatar" series, also said that the acquisition has no impact on the ongoing film series. At the same time, Landau also said that Fox was determined to sell itself anyway, so it was a happy thing to be sold to Disney.
