Jim Carrey enjoys the filming of Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is fast approaching the finish line, with the film's star James Marsden revealing that filming has wrapped.

"Yeah, we just wrapped Sonic the Hedgehog 3. We're actually right next to where Deadpool is filming," Marsden told The Playlist, hinting that he may be reprising his role from the X-Men franchise in another trilogy film, Deadpool vs. Wolverine: Cobra.

Marsden also added that his Sonic the Hedgehog co-star Jim Carrey was "really enjoying" his third stint as mad scientist Dr. Eggman.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve created and the reaction from the fans. On the first movie, we just had to get the animation right,” Marsden said. “But it’s a great family, there’s just so much positive energy. Jim Carrey was so happy, he was in his zone, he came to the set… with lots and lots of lines, really like a score for the day, very planned and prepared. So it was a real treat to see him having fun.”

Paramount Pictures has scheduled Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to be released in theaters on December 20, 2024.
