Donnie Yen issues a lawyer's statement to refute "Iceman": the accusation five years later is too ridiculous

The movie "Iceman: Time Traveler" was released on November 2 this year. The day after the release, the official Weibo account of "Iceman" published an article titled "Official Tearing: Behind Iceman", which listed Donnie Yen's various behaviors of "interfering with creation" and "self-centeredness". That night, Donnie Yen was furious and refuted each point in a longer article. On November 14, Donnie Yen issued a lawyer's statement, saying that he would make a statement on the defamation of the official Weibo account of "Iceman". Donnie Yen also personally forwarded the Weibo and said that "it will be investigated."

Previously, the official Weibo account of "Iceman" published an article titled "Official Tear: Behind Iceman", which listed Donnie Yen's "crimes" as follows: First, he changed the lines at random and disrespected history; second, he insisted on not wearing a wig after "traveling through the Ming Dynasty" because he was dissatisfied with the ancient costume. Third, he was worried that his opponent would cover up his edge, so he threatened to go on strike and demanded that his opponent must be an elderly foreign actor; fourth, he intervened in the creation of the film in the later stage, intervened in the post-production, and deleted scenes to highlight the protagonist. This article was deleted four hours after it was published.

Donnie Yen's lawyer's statement said, "The film Iceman: Time Traveler was produced by an experienced company, promoted by a senior publicity and distribution company, and the main creative staff is a senior director and well-known producer. The film was shot in 2013, and the cooperation between all parties was smooth. It has been five years since the filming was completed, and Mr. Donnie Yen has never received any accusations from the film Iceman: Time Traveler. If Mr. Donnie Yen did the behavior described by the producer, why didn't he make the accusation during the long five years, but chose to make the accusation during the release of the film?"

The lawyer's statement pointed out, "The entire movie was dubbed by voice actors. If the film company was not satisfied with the lines, why didn't they adjust them during the dubbing stage? Instead, they let the voice actors dub the lines that were arbitrarily modified by Mr. Donnie Yen and that the film company was not satisfied with? At the same time, Mr. Donnie Yen never participated in any editing work. The claim that 'Donnie Yen drastically cut out the roles of many actors to highlight his absolute leading role, which successfully resulted in the film being only 87 minutes long and the plot being disorganized and incomprehensible' is completely false.'"

As of November 14, the cumulative box office of "Iceman: The Time Traveler" was 34.34 million, and the box office in the first weekend was 27.13 million. As word of mouth collapsed, the daily screening of this movie had dropped to less than 1% after the eighth day of its release. As of press time, the official Weibo account of "Iceman" has not responded to this lawyer's statement.
