According to foreign media reports recently, the live-action version of the movie "Detective Pikachu" has revealed a new plot outline. Previously, the plot information of this movie was limited to "a crime-solving story." The story tells about a private detective named Harry Goodman who mysteriously disappeared, and his 21-year-old son searched everywhere for his traces. His only helper is Harry's previous partner Pikachu, "a smart, humorous, cute and elusive" detective. The two hit it off immediately. The story is set in Ryme City, a modern metropolis full of neon lights where humans and Pokémon live together. As the two pursue Harry's father, they gradually discover a terrible secret that will destroy the entire Pokémon universe. The live-action version of "Detective Pikachu" is based on Nintendo's 1996 game of the same name, produced jointly by Legendary Pictures and Pokemon Co. In the game, players could capture and collect Pokemon and train them to fight. Since then, related games and animations have been quite influential. The live-action movie is directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) and stars Ryan Reynolds, "Deadpool", Kathryn Newton (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Miss Bird), Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean), etc. The film will be released in North America on May 10, 2019. |
