Animation Film Group to direct a live-action Tom and Jerry movie for the latter. Tom and Jerry is a series of long-running animated shorts created by animation pioneers William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and first launched in 1940. The story mainly revolves around the endless battle between the house cat Tom and the mouse Jerry. Seven of the animated shorts released by MGM Pictures won Oscars from 1943 to 1953. Over the years, this pair of happy enemies has been one of the enduring elements of pop culture, and the 1993 film Tom and Jerry: The Movie was their first performance on the big screen. His latest project is the reboot of The Hard Knocks, which is set to be released in June 2019.
