Additionally, teenage girls surveyed were significantly less likely than boys of the same age to associate themselves with being confident, brave and a listener. "Our research found that female sci-fi and superhero characters can help close the confidence gap for girls and make them feel strong, brave, confident, inspired, motivated and driven," Julie Burton, president of the Women's Media Center, said in a statement. |
