Film and TV production company Blumhouse has seen great success in recent years with hits like horror film Megan and Five Nights at Freddy's, and now they're teaming up with Atomic Monster to release another horror film set in the Megan universe.

Today, Universal Pictures announced "Soulm8te", a "erotic thriller" spin-off film of the "Megan" universe jointly produced by two major Hollywood horror production companies, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. The film is scheduled to be released on January 2, 2026.

According to Variety, Soulm8te tells the story of a man who tries to overcome the loss of his wife using an AI robot, “but in his quest to create a true, emotional companion, he inadvertently transforms a harmless love robot into his deadly soul mate.”

"Soulm8te" is directed by Kate Dolan, produced by James Wan and Jason Bulm, and executive produced by Michael Clear and Judson Scott.

Kate Dolan described the film as "an exploration of relationships and loneliness" in a statement cited by Variety. "Despite technological advances, there are some timeless human truths that we can't escape, and I look forward to digging deep into those truths."
