"Fast and Furious" spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw" starts filming Jason gets in a McLaren supercar

The Fast and Furious spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham started filming last weekend. Director David Leitch posted the clapperboard of the first day of filming on his social account.

On the night of the start of filming, the director and Jason Statham appeared in Covent Garden in central London to shoot a night scene. "Guo Da" Statham was dressed in a suit and had a funny expression, and the mount beside him was a valuable McLaren sports car.

"Hobbs & Shaw" is the first spin-off film in the "Fast and Furious" series. The story is centered on Luke Hobbs, an agent of the Diplomatic Security Service played by Dwayne Johnson, and the mercenary killer Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham. It will no longer focus on the fast-racing family.

Hobbs first appeared in "Fast & Furious 5", and Deckard Shaw officially joined the "Fast & Furious" in "Fast & Furious 7", but he showed up in the post-credits easter egg of the sixth film. In last year's latest "Fast & Furious 8", Deckard Shaw, who had always been a villain, was unexpectedly "whitewashed" and became an ally of the speedster family.

British actor Idris Elba (Thor, Pacific Rim) will join Hobbs & Shaw to play the villain; the film's heroine has been confirmed to be played by Vanessa Kirby, the "White Widow" from Mission: Impossible 6.

The film's script was written by Chris Morgan, the screenwriter of the "Fast and Furious" series, and directed by David Leitch ("Deadpool 2", "Atomic Blonde", "John Wick"). "Hobbs & Shaw" is scheduled to be released in North America on July 26, 2019.
