It is reported that the promotional video was originally planned to be about 2 minutes, but was finally expanded to 6 minutes. Kyoto Animation's public relations manager Shigenobu Hisatsugu said, "Uji City has many fascinating historical places, and we want to depict each place in more detail."

The promotional video, titled "Uji ni wa Monogatari ga aruru (translatable as: There is in fact a story)", will be based on the story of the last ten chapters of "The Tale of Genji", "Uji Jutsu", and the famous attractions of Uji City. It tells the story of a young woman, Akane, who encounters the mysterious rabbit "Usakichi" at Uji Shrine while traveling to Uji City, and is led by it to visit the attractions of Uji City and visit historical figures.
