According to the People's Daily today (March 8), edited by reporter Cui Qi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a regular press conference. A foreign media asked: Japanese cartoonist Akira Toriyama passed away due to illness. His cartoon "Dragon Ball" is based on the Chinese classic "Journey to the West". What is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' response to this?

Spokesman Mao Ning said: "We express our deepest condolences for the passing of Mr. Akira Toriyama and our sincere condolences to his family. Mr. Toriyama was a famous cartoonist and his works were very popular in China. I noticed that many Chinese netizens also expressed their condolences for his passing. We expect and believe that more knowledgeable people in Japan will actively participate in the cultural exchanges between China and Japan and the friendship between the two countries."

In addition, the famous action movie star Jackie Chan also posted a Weibo to express his condolences: "Mr. Akira Toriyama, thank you for creating so many classic works. They will always be with the world. Rest in peace."
