Shueisha personally fights against counterfeiting and calls on fans to clearly see the difference between the genuine and pirated versions of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

The extremely popular anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" not only created records in Japanese film history with its theatrical animation, but it is also very popular in various piracy fields. On February 18, Shueisha could no longer sit still and personally called on fans to pay attention to the difference between authentic and pirated versions of the single-volume comics.

"Demon Slayer" is a fantasy manga created by Koyoharu Gotouge. It tells the story of the Japanese Taisho period, when it is said that after the sun sets, demons come out to eat people. There are also demon hunters who kill demons and protect people. The ordinary and happy daily life of Tanjiro, a charcoal seller, changed drastically on the day his family was attacked by demons. His mother and four younger siblings were brutally killed, and his sister Nezuko, who survived with him, also turned into a ferocious demon. In order to cut off the chain of sadness, the boy never stopped fighting with demons.

Shueisha has pointed out that a large number of pirated Demon Slayer comics are being sold on the most popular e-commerce platforms, including Japan Asia and Mercari. Although the quality of pirated printings is slightly poor, it is still difficult for ordinary fans to distinguish them.

Shueisha's relatively clear judgment on the difference between the legitimate and pirated versions of Demon Slayer is:

1. First of all, the pirated version of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is obviously thinner than the genuine version. When all 23 copies are stacked together, the genuine version is 315mm thick, while the pirated version is only 255mm. Fans who have bought pirated versions can consider returning them and making complaints based on this.

2. The price on the back of the cover of Volume 4 is surrounded by a thin line in the genuine version, while the pirated version only has the price.

3. According to Shueisha's investigation, this batch of pirated copies seems to be all copies of "39th print released on June 30, 2020". Sets marked with this date are generally fake.

4. Shueisha cannot provide after-sales service for pirated comics, please be aware.
