'The Exorcist' steps down: 'IT' becomes the highest-grossing horror film!

The horror film "IT" produced by Warner's New Line Entertainment has been enjoying box office success since its release. The film's global box office has exceeded US$500 million, breaking the 44-year record of US$441 million held by "The Exorcist" for the highest box office in film history.

"IT" created the largest opening record for an R-rated film in North America on September 8, and topped the North American weekly box office for two consecutive weeks after its release. Its domestic box office has accumulated $270 million, ranking among the top 5 of the annual North American box office list.

This new film adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name has also demonstrated extraordinary box office appeal in overseas markets, becoming the highest-grossing horror film in history in 17 countries and regions including the United Kingdom, Russia and Australia. It will also be released in theaters in Italy, Japan and Germany to continue its money-making journey.

Recently, New Line has officially announced that "IT: Chapter Two" will be released on September 6, 2019. Bill Skarsgård, who plays the Joker, and the young actors in the film will all return.
