Yuhki Demers, art director and producer of the Spider-Man: Multiverse series, recently shared on Twitter the story of how he proposed a Batman Beyond animated film to DC. The film will be directed and written by Patrick Harpin (Hotel Transylvania, My Dad is a Star Hunter), who is also involved in the proposal talks. Yuhki said that before they shared their proposal, DC warned them that "there is absolutely no way we can make a Batman Beyond movie," but loved their enthusiasm. However, after they fully provided the outline of the entire movie, "what started as a 'never' became a 'maybe'," he said. Yuhki shared some concept art for the movie on Twitter. The neon lights are reminiscent of Night City, and the art style is reminiscent of Earth-42, where Miles became a wanderer in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Batman Beyond is an animated series based on Batman that began airing in 1999 and ended in 2001. The story takes place in 2019, which was still a distant future. The original Batman, Bruce Wayne, stopped being a hero after turning 50 for various reasons and began to live in seclusion. All his famous villains either died, reformed, or disappeared. 20 years later, in the cyberpunk-style New Gotham City, a 16-year-old youth named Terry McGinnis discovered the secret that he was Batman by chance and became the new Batman to fight various threats. |
