Director Gareth Edwards is in talks to helm Universal Pictures' new Jurassic World film, taking over the reins from Davide Leitch. This new project is progressing quickly and has already been confirmed for July 2, 2025. David Leitch, who has already directed Universal Pictures' The Stunt Man starring Ryan Gosling, previously negotiated to direct the project in early February, but it didn't come together a few days later. There have been multiple drafts of the new Jurassic World movie script, which is being written by David Koepp (the screenwriter of the Mission: Impossible series and 1993's Jurassic Park). Gareth Edwards, who rose to fame with the independent film Monsters and the subsequent 2014 Godzilla film, went on to direct Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The new work on the classic series will be executive produced by the original director Spielberg alone. |
