Amazon's 'Lord of the Rings' TV series resumes filming in New Zealand

The New Zealand government has given the green light for several entertainment projects to resume filming in the country, including Amazon's big-budget TV series "The Lord of the Rings."

According to Variety, the "Lord of the Rings" TV series and multiple Netflix film and television projects have been allowed to start/resume production in New Zealand after being suspended in March due to the epidemic. Prior to this, Cameron had obtained permission from the local government in June this year to resume filming the "Avatar" movie sequel.

New Zealand officials said that by resuming Hollywood filming, it will create more than 3,000 jobs and $400 million in revenue for the local area. In March this year, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the filming of "The Lord of the Rings" in New Zealand was suspended .

Amazon's TV series "Lord of the Rings" has a total of five seasons, with the first season having 20 episodes, and a total investment of $1 billion, which exceeds the investment of the movie trilogy. It also beat "Game of Thrones" (each episode costs about $15 million) and became the most expensive American TV series in history.
