According to Collider, "Top Gun 2" surpassed "Titanic" in the domestic box office to become Paramount's highest-grossing film in the United States. Paramount Pictures has a history of 110 years, and "Top Gun 2," the sequel to the 1986 "Top Gun," has flown to the top. So far, the film has taken in $601.9 million at the domestic box office, surpassing "Titanic" ($600.7 million). "Top Gun 2 is a phenomenal film, and we are so proud to celebrate this monumental achievement with Tom Cruise, our filmmakers, our cast, our marketing and distribution teams, and of course our fans old and new, without whom none of this would have been possible," said Brian Robbins, CEO and President of Paramount Pictures. "Top Gun 2" has currently grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in Tom Cruise's career. IGN believes that much of Top Gun 2's success comes from its action scenes, some of which could only be shot once. |
