It's been a long time coming — seven years, in fact — but Netflix's animated adaptation of Devil May Cry is finally coming to the screen. The streaming platform announced that the series will premiere on April 3, along with a teaser trailer.

We first heard that a Devil May Cry anime adaptation was in the works back in 2018, with Adi Shankar, who previously served as executive producer on Netflix's acclaimed Castlevania adaptation and 2023's Captain Laser: Blood Dragon Remix, in charge of the project.

For a while, it seemed like the project might have been quietly shelved, but that proved not to be the case in 2023, when the animation was first revealed, along with confirmation that it would be animated by Studio Mir, the company behind Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

A year later, Netflix released the first official trailer for the series, which showed Dante's lack of enthusiasm for buttoning his shirt. That release also revealed that the animation would be released in April 2025, and the specific date has now been confirmed as April 3.

Along with the premiere date, Netflix released a trailer showing the opening sequence of the Devil May Cry series, complete with stylized violence and music from Limp Bizkit. Of course, this is very different from the actual anime series, which uses a more traditional Japanese animation style.

At present, we know very little about the plot details of this "Devil May Cry" animation version, except that "the white-haired young man in a red jacket likes to show off his abdominal muscles." But Netflix will surely reveal more information about the series before it starts.
