2024 Spring Festival box office exceeds 3.8 billion: "Hot and Spicy" tops the list

Data from Lighthouse Professional Edition shows that as of 10:21 on February 13, the total box office for the 2024 Spring Festival has exceeded 3.8 billion yuan.

"Hot Hot", "Speeding Life 2", "Boonie Bears: Reversal of Time" and "Article 20" are temporarily ranked in the top four of the Spring Festival box office. Among them, "Hot Hot" performed the most eye-catchingly, with the cumulative box office exceeding 1.3 billion yuan. This is also Jia Ling's second director and starring work after "Hello, Li Huanying".

According to professionals, the Spring Festival period is one of the core periods of the year. From 2013 to 2023, the top two films in the Spring Festival period accounted for 60% to 80% of the box office. It can be seen that the head-gathering effect of the Spring Festival period is becoming more and more obvious, and the share in the back row has been severely compressed.

Institutions estimate that the box office of the 2024 Spring Festival is expected to exceed 6 billion yuan.

During this year's Spring Festival, both ordinary audiences and professional movie fans highly recognized the quality of the films. Four films were rated high by professional rating websites with scores of around 8 points, and their reputation on online platforms was also good.

Ticketing big data shows that residents in third- and fourth-tier cities have become the main force of movie consumption, accounting for more than half of the total box office, reaching 54%.

The proportion of family movie-watching has also increased significantly, and the proportion of three or more people watching a movie together has increased from less than 20% in the same period last year to 27%.
