IGN rated the live-action drama "One Piece" 6 points: the adaptation is interesting but it has lost its essence

The live-action drama of "One Piece" was exclusively broadcast on Netflix on August 31. Foreign media IGN reviewed the drama and gave it a score of 6. IGN believes that the adaptation of the live-action drama of "One Piece" is interesting, but it is hindered by the desire to reproduce every major event in the original work.

IGN rating: 6 points average

IGN's overall review:

Netflix's One Piece strives to recreate the charm of the original in live-action form, but this requires discarding some plot fragments. The live-action series charts its own path based on the changes made by the producers and writers. Unfortunately, the live-action series does not devote itself to this retelling, but constantly returns to familiar territory and fan service, making the experience confusing.

It's a shame considering that most other aspects of the series - from the visuals to the wild action to the lovable cast - work so well together. While the live-action One Piece series does an admirable job of capturing the spirit of the original, it abridges the plot and removes much, if not all, of the core of the original story.
