The voice actors behind the live-action version of "The Lion King" special stills CG face their roles

Disney's live-action remake of the classic animation, The Lion King, will hit theaters nationwide on July 12. Of course, the definition of "live-action" is somewhat vague, after all, the entire movie is actually CG images produced using high-tech, and there will be no actors in person. Therefore, in order to show the heroic figures of the voice actors who dedicated themselves to the animals behind the scenes, Disney released a special version of the stills today, introducing the actors and characters one-on-one.

Simba: Donald Glover (American TV series "Atlanta", "Solo: A Star Wars Story")

Pumbaa: Seth Rogen / Timon: Billy Eichner

Simba's girlfriend Nana: Queen Beyonce Knowles

Uncle Simba's Scar: Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange)

Simba's mother Sarabi: Alfre Woodard

Hyena Corps:

Young Nala and young Simba:

It is worth mentioning that James Earl Jones, who plays Simba's father Mufasa (the voice of Darth Vader in the "Star Wars" series and the original voice of Mufasa), did not appear in the new stills. The reason may be the impact of his physical condition at the age of 88.

The Lion King plot summary:

The Lion King describes the story of the king of the Pride Kingdom, the lion king Mufasa, who led the world wisely. When he and his wife Sarabi gave birth to the little prince Simba, the whole country was rejoicing. Only Mufasa's brother Scar was dissatisfied. Simba's birth meant that Scar was getting further and further away from the throne. The greedy Scar decided to use a trick to kill his brother and put the blame on Simba.

Young Simba mistakenly thought he had caused a disaster, and driven by guilt, he fled the Pride Lands and began a long exile. One day, his childhood sweetheart, the lioness Nala, unexpectedly broke into Simba's world, and he learned that Scar had inherited the throne and did whatever he wanted. The people of the Pride Lands were living in poverty and the country was devastated. Hearing such bad news, how will Simba, as an adult, face his inner demons, challenge his uncle Scar, and restore order on the grassland?

The live-action version of the classic childhood animation "The Lion King" is scheduled to be released nationwide on July 12.
