According to Deadline, Jennifer Coolidge (White Lotus Resort), the 62-year-old actress who just won the Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie at the Emmy Awards, has joined the Minecraft movie. It is not yet clear what role Coolidge will play in the movie, but we can bet that no matter what role she plays, she will make full use of her eccentric charm. It was previously rumored that "Aquaman" Jason Momoa will star in the "Minecraft" movie, and comedy star Jack Black will play Steve. Other casts include Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. Coolidge rose to fame in the early 2000s with memorable roles in films like the American Pie series, Legally Blonde, and Best in Show. She's recently experienced a career resurgence, thanks in large part to her role in White Lotus. She was a standout in the first season, was one of two actors returning for the second season (the other being Jon Cries), and has now won Emmys for both seasons. The live-action "Minecraft" movie is directed by Jared Hess, the director of "Napoleon Dynamite" and "The Mad Priest". It started filming in December last year and is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025. |
