Spider-Man 2 trailer hits over 100 million, surpassing first film, sets Sony record

Trailers have now become an indicator of whether a movie is popular or not, especially the number of views on the trailer. Just 24 hours after Sony released the trailer for Spider-Man 2: Far From Home, the trailer had been viewed more than 130 million times, becoming the most viewed trailer under Sony.

It is worth mentioning that Spider-Man 2: Far From Home released two versions of the trailer at once, so the 130 million views can only be said to be "dragged down" by the two trailers. Previously, the record for Sony's views was held by the film's predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming, which had 116 million views. In other words, the first and second place in Sony's trailer views are both the new versions of Spider-Man. In Sony's trailer, Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., suddenly appeared in Peter's room and assigned him a mysterious task. Then the villain "The Elementals" appeared in the trailer, and finally the Mysterio played by Jake Gyllenhaal appeared. He wore medieval armor and emitted green flames in his hands. He was nicknamed "Iron Man and Thor" by Spider-Man's classmates. He is Spider-Man's good helper, and he works with him to deal with the villain "The Elementals".

The number of clicks on trailers has always been a tool for producers to estimate box office revenue. Currently, the top three movies in terms of clicks in film history are all from Disney and its affiliated labels. They are "Avengers 4", "Avengers 3" and the live-action version of "The Lion King". The clicks are 289 million, 238 million and 224.6 million respectively. At present, "Avengers 4" has entered the final stage of post-production.

As early as 2016, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 was already on the production schedule. According to the schedule determined by the producers, the casting of Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is in full swing, and more actors and roles will be revealed soon. In addition to new characters, Tom Holland, Zendaya and other main characters from the first film have all returned. According to the plan, the film will be released on July 5, 2019.
