The story of the live-action drama "Fallout" is canon and takes place 9 years after "Fallout 4"

The live-action series adapted from Fallout will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in April. The series will follow the original game's setting, including the nuclear war in 2077. And all the clothes, entertainment types, vehicle styles, etc. in the world of the series will follow the sci-fi 1940s design in the original game.

Fans have also been unsure about when in the history of the original work the show will take place, but this has now been clarified: the story is set 219 years after the war, which is 2296, nine years after the story of Fallout 4.

Todd Howard, the boss of Bethesda and the game producer, is also the executive producer of the show. He explained to Vanity Fair that the show is not only based on the game, but also will be canon. This means that the plot of the future game will also be affected by the story of the live-action show.

"We consider what happens in the show to be canon," Todd said. "It's great when other people look at the work and 'translate' it in some way." He also mentioned that the producers and writers added some things to the game's setting that he envied: "I see them and think, 'Ah, why don't we do that too.'"

He added that the showrunners were smart to make the story more accessible but still feel very much like a game: "We had a lot of conversations about the style of humor, the level of violence, the style of violence... I think they captured that really well in the TV show."

Todd went on to elaborate on how he wanted to approach the series and make it a standalone thing, rather than retelling stories that have already been told in the games. "I don't want to reinterpret existing stories that we've done," he said. "That's another thing - a lot of pitches say, 'This is the Fallout 3 movie...' My thought is 'I've already told that story. I'm not that interested in translating that.' I'm interested in Hisahito telling a unique Fallout story. Treat it like a game. It gives the creators of the series their own playground."
