Former NFL player, two-time Emmy Award winner, and actor Andre Braugher, who played Sheriff Holt in the hit American sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, died of illness at the age of 61. According to DEADLINE, Brauer died on Monday (December 11) local time after a brief illness. Braugher's first film was Glory (1989), directed by Ed Zwick, starring alongside Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. He won an Emmy Award in 1998 and two Television Critics Association Awards in 1997 and 1998. His Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Terry Crews wrote in a tribute on Instagrams: "I can't believe you're gone so soon. I was honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you, and shared 8 amazing years with you and witnessed your irreplaceable talent."
