While anything could happen via flashbacks or the multiverse, Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed to MCU fans that the team never wanted to "magically undo" Iron Man's death in Avengers 4 and weaken that moment. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kevin Feige shared how important Tony Stark's sacrifice was to the MCU, and how they didn't want to restructure it all just to bring Downey Jr. back. "We're going to preserve that moment and never touch that moment again," Fitch said. "We all worked for many years to get to this point, and we don't want to magically undo it in any way." Technically, Kevin Feige's statement does not completely block the door for Iron Man's return, but it does sound like Iron Man has left the main MCU timeline forever. In early November this year, there were rumors that Iron Man and Captain America, the first generation of Avengers, would return for Avengers 6, but it seems that hope has been dashed.
