Actor Evan Peters, who played "Quicksilver" in "X-Men" and the protagonist killer in the recent hit American TV series "Monsters: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", has now confirmed that he will star in the third sequel of the classic science fiction film "Tron: Ares". Joachim Rønning, director of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," will direct the new film, which will be starred by Jared Leto, who plays the Joker in "Suicide Squad." Jesse Wigutow, screenwriter of "Eragon," is in charge of the script. The film is scheduled to start shooting in August. The previous film, TRON: Legacy, was directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of Top Gun: Maverick, as a sequel to Steven Lisberg's original 1982 classic sci-fi film. It was filmed using impressive practical set construction and CG technology, and the famous band Daft Punk also produced a soundtrack. The film grossed more than $400 million at the global box office, but the planned sequel was subsequently canceled. Kosinski blamed Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm's Star Wars IP. There had been speculation that Leto would replace Garrett Hedlund in TRON: Legacy as Sam, the son of the original protagonist. But in fact, Leto will play "Ares," the human version of the program itself. DEADLINE reports that Peters' role has not yet been announced. |
