Scarlett Johansson responds to rumors of Black Widow's return: It would take a miracle for her to be resurrected

According to a recent Variety report, Marvel may be looking to bring back Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson for an Avengers movie. Scarlett has now responded to the report, saying that the character of Black Widow is dead and the chances of her returning are slim.

She said of her death in Avengers: Endgame: "Is it going to be like a zombie movie? I think that's the end. She's dead. It would really be a miracle. It would be a Marvel miracle."

But she didn't completely rule out a return to the MCU someday. "But, who knows?" she said.

Variety reported the news of the duo's return, saying Marvel "has not yet confirmed the idea". In April this year, Scarlett Johansson said that she had "broken up" with Marvel. She also said that the original Avengers felt like a "sausage party" considering that there were more men than women.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has also responded to the report, saying: "I've literally never seen anything like this; is this a new rumor?"

The latest Marvel movie is the just released Captain Marvel 2, but the film received poor reviews and was the slowest-starting movie in Marvel's history. In 2024, Marvel will only release one movie - Deadpool 3.

While Scarlett Johansson won't be returning as Black Widow, she is indeed working with Kevin Feige on a new Marvel project that has yet to be officially announced.
