Sony Pictures to remake Chinese comedy "Hello, Li Huanying" with Jia Ling as producer

On October 19, Sony Pictures announced that it would remake the 2021 domestic comedy "Hello, Li Huanying" into an English version. The film was adapted from director Jia Ling's personal memories of her mother Li Huanying. After its release, it grossed 5.4 billion yuan at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films in Chinese film history.

It is reported that the English version of "Hello, Li Huanying" will be adapted by Laura Kosann and produced by Escape Artists, the production company of "The Pursuit of Happyness". Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Becky Sanderman and She Wenxin will serve as producers, and the original film's director Jia Ling will serve as the supervisor.
