At the recent trailer launch for the upcoming "Aquaman 2" held in Los Angeles, James Wan discussed his expectations for the series of films and expressed that he did not want to stop there. He very much hoped to shoot the third film and turn the series into an independent film universe, taking the audience to every corner of Atlantis. James Wan told the media: "There is definitely more places to go for the story of Jason Momoa's Aquaman. World building is very important. We like different worlds that other superhero movies don't have. This is the cool thing about the "Aquaman" movie, it is independent. It exists in its own universe." "My dream was to create a cinematic universe of the Seven Kingdoms and visit all the different worlds that we touch upon in these two movies. Like the first movie, this movie leans more towards the spirit of Ray Harryhausen. It also has shades of Jules Verne. As you can see in the trailer, I leaned very much aesthetically towards the 1960s Silver Age Aquaman comics, so a lot of the designs in this movie have a very retro feel. The spirit and tone are very retro as well. It's slightly darker than the first movie, which tends to be the case with the second movie, and that felt like the right progression for this movie." Aquaman: Fallen Kingdom will be released in theaters on December 20. |
