Batman has already made his DC Universe debut thanks to Bio-Commando, and according to James Gunn, we won't be seeing his origin story again. Of course, Batman has perhaps one of the most famous superhero origin stories of all time, which means there's really no need for us to see the tragic demise of the Waynes play out on screen again. "He already exists in this universe, just like when we go to the Superman movie, we see that Superman already exists and is already known to the people of Metropolis," Gunn told Rotten Tomatoes. "We don't need to hear the origin story again. (Showing Batman in Bio-Commando) is just a way to introduce Batman as part of this universe." But while Bio-Commando marks the first appearance of Batman in the DC Universe, there's still a lot to discover about him. “When they originally showed me the episode, it was a lot more Batman,” Gunn commented, “and I said, ‘I’m not ready for that… Let’s have more silhouettes!’” A DC Universe Batman movie directed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti is about to be released, while the alternate Batman universe created by Matt Reeves will continue to develop with the next movie (although that movie was recently delayed to October 1, 2027). The next big thing in the DC Universe is Superman, which will debut on July 11 this year. David Corenswet will take over the role of Superman, Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane. |
