The box office performance of "Mission: Impossible - Deadly Reckoning: Part One" was greatly affected by "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer", and its second week box office saw the biggest decline in the series. According to Hollywood Reporter, Mission: Impossible 7-1 took in just $19.5 million in its second weekend in the U.S., a 64% drop from its $56.2 million debut. This is the worst weekly drop for a Mission: Impossible film. The previous one was Mission: Impossible 2, which dropped 53% in its first week in 2000. Mission: Impossible 7: Part One is doing a little better worldwide. The film grossed over $55 million in 72 territories and markets last weekend, bringing its global box office to over $250 million. Achieving $600 million during its run is not out of the question. This was all because Hollywood had one of the biggest opening weekends ever: Barbie and Oppenheimer opened on the same day, grossing $155 million and $80.5 million respectively. This was the first time in U.S. history that two films opened over the same weekend with more than $80 million, and it was also one of the biggest opening weekends in the U.S. ever. |
