The Flash movie flopped in North America in its first weekend, and its box office was lower than that of Black Adam

The Flash was released in North America on June 17. According to media reports, the film's performance in the first weekend in North America was "disastrous", with only $55.1 million. This was $12 million less than Black Adam. Globally, The Flash's total box office in the first weekend was $139 million, which was still $4 million less than Black Adam.

Last night we released the Top 10 most expensive movies in 2023, and "The Flash" ranked sixth with a production cost of 220 million US dollars (the actual total cost was as high as 330 million US dollars).

Generally speaking, the box office of a big-budget movie needs to reach 2.5-3 times the production cost to break even, which means that "The Flash" needs at least 550 million to 660 million US dollars to break even.

Taking DC's "Black Adam" movie as a reference, the total global box office of this movie is only 393 million US dollars, and the global box office of "The Flash", which opened worse than "Black Adam", may not exceed that of "Black Adam".

Some foreign analysts believe that the DC movie box office has completely collapsed, and hope that James Gunn's "Superman: Legacy" can reverse this situation. It is worth mentioning that Gunn's Marvel movie "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" directed this year has a box office of more than 800 million US dollars.
