"The Little Mermaid" new movie poster: poor box office in mainland China, foreigners unhappy

Recently, Disney released the second wave of new posters for the live-action movie "The Little Mermaid", showing full-body photos of characters such as the little mermaid, the prince, the octopus and the sea witch.

The Little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall, with Halle Bailey as the Little Mermaid, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Melissa McCarthy as the octopus sea witch Ursula. The film is adapted from the 1989 animated film version, telling the story of the Little Mermaid who lives in the sea and resolutely gives up her country and race after falling in love with the prince, becoming a human being and pursuing love.

In a recent interview, Marshall said that the theme of the live-action movie "The Little Mermaid" is about tolerance and acceptance . "These are the parts that we are looking forward to. For us, when we were shooting this film, it was a very powerful message about how to tolerate and accept people who are different from you. I must say, this is the ultimate goal."

Ironically, when the male lead of "Aladdin" Mena made a sarcastic remark about "The Little Mermaid", he was accused of racial discrimination and was even forced to close his Twitter account. The pre-sale box office of "The Little Mermaid" in mainland China was not good (only 130,000 yuan), and a group of foreigners started to make a fuss . Some said that China discriminates against black people, and some said that China does not like black people. They are not surprised at all.

"The Little Mermaid" will be released in mainland China on May 26. There are only 3 days left. Do you plan to go to the cinema to watch this movie?
