The classic "Ooku" animation version is scheduled to be released exclusively on Netflix on June 29

Today, May 23, Netflix announced that the animated version of "The Great Oku", adapted from the classic manga, will be released exclusively on June 29. The latest poster was also released at the same time, so stay tuned.

"Ooku" is a manga by Japanese manga artist Fumi Yoshinaga. It is serialized in the bimonthly girls' manga "MELODY" (Hakusensha). In 2009, it won the 13th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award for Manga, and the following year it won the Shogakukan Manga Award for Girls. It will be completed in 2021.

The story describes that the Ooku, which was originally for the wives, concubines and ladies-in-waiting of Japanese generals, was affected by a deadly epidemic that only infected men, which led to a sharp decrease in the number of men in the country. Eighty years later, the male population dropped sharply to one-fourth of the female population. Coupled with the low survival rate of male babies, men were regarded as treasures for carrying on the family line.

·The anime version of "Ooku" has been confirmed to be directed by Abe Noriyuki, the director of "Yu Yu Hakusho". The voice actors include the beautiful monk Yuko, who will be played by Miyano Mamoru, the third Tokugawa shogun Iemitsu, who will be played by Matsui Eriko, and Kaji Yuki and Seki Tomokazu will also appear in the film. Stay tuned.
