Indiana Jones 5 director Mangold admits he was very conflicted when he was invited to make a sequel for money

The final chapter of the classic fantasy adventure film, Indiana Jones and the Fallen, will be released in North America on June 30. The official meeting was held recently, at which director James Mangold talked about his experience in taking over the directorship of Indiana Jones and the Fallen.

Indiana Jones 5 is the second time that the legendary IP has landed on the big screen after Indiana Jones 4 in 2008. The story takes place in the 1960s. The elderly Dr. Jones continues to teach at the university. The character played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge comes to him to find the "Disc of Destiny" that he had found during World War II. This treasure seems to be able to change history. The Nazi remnant played by Mads Mikkelsen also comes to find this treasure, and a battle for it is inevitable.

James Mangold said that he initially just had admiration for Spielberg and Harrison Ford, but he did not expect to be invited to be a director. He hesitated for a long time, but gradually felt the sincerity and enthusiasm of the producers, and finally decided to take the job.

James Mangold also talked about whether there will be a sequel, saying that "I don't want to make a sequel just to keep Jones alive. And for me, it's very simple. Money is good, but if I continue to make a sequel just to make money from Jones's reputation, I have no interest in it."

The director once again emphasized that "Indiana Jones and the Fallen" will be the final chapter of the series.
