According to DEADLINE, Apple TV+ has confirmed the new series "Drops of God". This is a new international co-production multilingual live-action TV series based on the manga by Naoki Aki and Hideo Okimoto. The eight-part series will be broadcast worldwide in 2023. In Japan, the series will be exclusively available on Hulu Japan. The series was reportedly filmed over 10 months in France, Italy and Japan. Japanese actor Tomohisa Yamashita and French actress Fleur Geffrier will star in the series. Geffrier's character is actually the protagonist of the story, "Kanzaki Shizuku". In the original work, the protagonist is a man. The manga "Water Drops of God" began serialization in Kodansha's "Morning" magazine in 2004. In fact, before that, the Japanese TV series of the same name adapted from the manga was also broadcast in Japan in 2009 and received high praise. The manga was completed in 2014, and the 44th and final volume was released in Japan in July of the same year. The final chapter of the manga, "Marriage ~ God's Water Drops Final Chapter ~", began serialization in May 2015 and ended in October 2020. The comic focuses on wine and wine tasters, and is known for boosting sales of the wines depicted in the story during its run. French wine magazine La Revue du vin de France also recognized the comic, awarding it its highest award in 2010. The New York Times also featured the comic in its Food and Wine section in 2008. |
