According to The Wrap, Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola recently said that the sequel to the Santa Claus black bloody comedy film "Violent Night" has been confirmed to be in production and is already in the signing stage. “We’re in discussions right now and we’re just doing some signings and getting ready,” Wirkola said. “We’ve still got time to really study the script and figure out the story of the sequel. We have some ideas… We’ve been talking about where we want to take the new setting and what we want to see in the sequel.” Wirkola gave the example of a sequel that might feature ideas they intentionally left out of the first film, such as the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, and elves. The first part of "A Night of Violence" was released in European and American theaters on December 2, and was broadcast on the on-demand platform on December 20. The first film was primarily set in a mansion in Connecticut, but Wirkola said: "In terms of the story, I think we have a very, very cool idea that can expand the world and the scale of the movie but still keep the tone that we loved about the first film." The Christmas movie starring David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) has performed well at the box office, opening with a stunning opening of over $10 million in the United States, competing against Marvel Hollywood blockbusters such as Black Panther 2. The movie, which was reportedly budgeted at less than $20 million, has grossed over $75 million in theaters worldwide. It has also made some money on streaming services, but specific figures have not yet been released. |
