The original director of Friday the 13th is going to reboot the series

"Friday the 13th" director Sean S. Cunningham recently revealed that he is working with screenwriter Jeff Locke and director Jeremy Weiss to reboot the classic horror movie.

Cunningham is the producer of the original Friday the 13th, making the terrifying image of the masked man Jason linger in the hearts of movie fans. After the success of Friday the 13th, 10 subsequent films were released, but works such as Jason-X, Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th were all bad films that audiences who liked the original movie could not accept.

Cunningham is co-producing the Friday the 13th reboot with Locke and Weiss, who suggested it while the three were working on another horror film. Locke said: "Jeremy and I came up with our dream Friday the 13th reboot, and we're going to do it with Sean's blessing. The prequel TV series has reignited interest in the series, and we hope that interest will bring us together to bring Jason back to the screen after a 14-year absence. Of course, we also have a backup plan that will definitely satisfy the fans while avoiding legal disputes."

"Friday the 13th" does have a copyright dispute at present. The original screenwriter Victor Miller cooperated with the screenwriter of "Hannibal" to plan to shoot a prequel to "Friday the 13th". But the copyright of the masked man has always been a question. Now it seems that Cunningham seems confident that this problem can be solved.
