Ellie in The Last of Us doesn't like being sexualized and prefers non-binary gender

Recently, Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie in "The Last of Us", was interviewed by The New York Times. She said that she does not like to be gendered and if possible, she would choose non-binary gender.

Ramsay was previously nominated for the 28th Critics' Choice Award for Best New Performer in the non-gender specific category for her role as Catherine in "Birdie Catherine". Ramsay recently gave an interview and revealed her gender identity. She felt that her gender had always been "not very stable" and that she used to feel excited when she was mistaken for a boy.

"I guess my gender has always been fluid," Ramsay said. "I don't think much of it when someone calls me 'she' or 'her', but if someone calls me 'he' then I get a little excited. If non-binary was an option I'd choose it. I'm just human and being gendered isn't something I particularly enjoy, but as far as pronouns go I really don't care."

Ramsay also opened up about her negative feelings about playing Ellie, as many fans of the original series didn't like her. Ramsay said: "This is the first time I have a negative reaction to something. Sometimes I think it's funny, then I look at my phone for ten minutes and put it down and realize that this may be a bad thing. I always encourage myself that I am Ellie, I can do it, I am a good actor. But before long, I feel terrible about myself again."

Ramsay also talked about her relationship with Pedro Pascal, saying their first meeting was very short and special, "We got along really well, but we were both shy. We were like Joel and Ellie again, getting to know each other and getting to know each other.
