Classic martial arts film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" will be adapted into an American TV series

Sony Pictures announced that it will develop a TV version of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", which will be produced by Chinese-American producer Jason Ning ("Lucifer" and "The Sixth Sense").

In addition to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the other four parts of the Crane and Iron Quintet written by novelist Wang Dulu, namely Crane Shocks Kunlun, The Sword and Golden Hairpin, Sword Qi and Pearl Light, and Iron Cavalry and Silver Bottle, are also under development.

The TV series version of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is in the early development stage. Sony's announcement of the TV series at this time is more like a promotion for the 4K remastered version of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" to be released again in the United States. Last week, Sony Pictures announced that the 4K remastered version of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" will be released in the United States on February 17 this year.

The movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was released in 2000, starring Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Cheng Pei-pei and others. It won four Oscars and was the first Chinese-language film to win the Best Foreign Language Film.

In February 2016, the Sino-US co-produced martial arts film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny" was released, directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh.

In fact, there was a TV series version of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". In 2001, the second year after the movie was released, the 20-episode TV series "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was broadcast on many TV stations in mainland China, starring Peter Ho, Jiang Qinqin, Huang Yi, Qiu Xinzhi, Tong Ange and others. It currently has a Douban score of 6.9.
