JK Rowling earned £18m last year despite transgender controversy

JK Rowling, who has gained both wealth and fame thanks to "Harry Potter", is still one of the world's highest-paid authors. Although her "special" remarks on transgender people have caused huge controversy and attracted boycotts from all walks of life, it does not seem to have affected her income last year.

According to foreign media reports on the 4th, JK Rowling, 57, received 18 million pounds from publishers last year alone, and it is currently estimated that her total personal assets have exceeded 1 billion US dollars.

Rowling has been widely criticised in recent years for her comments on the transgender community and public appearances with a number of gender critical groups. Her outspokenness on the issue has also drawn criticism from Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, with Radcliffe even publishing an open letter in which he said, "trans women are women".
